Approximately 20 hectares of orchards have rain equipment for irrigation during dry periods and night frosts. The remaining area is covered by a drip irrigation system. The Almakúti site has its own water source as well as a network of irrigation channels. Its five water reservoirs provide a total storage capacity of around 70,000 m3. The water is clean and is regularly checked for impurities.
Almakúti also has a well sunk to a depth of 120 metres with the pump at a depth of 60 metres. This well can provide a maximum of 480 litres of water per minute (the famous Pannon water) and Almakúti has permission to use a maximum of 30,000 m3 water per year. We strive to use as much rainwater as possible and only use this well in “emergencies”, usually during periods of extreme drought.
